Thanks Kenton cleaners!

A big shout out to Alex (KNA Livibility committee chair), Heather, Mark, Taffy, Adele, Todd, Maiya, Meegan (KNA board chair) and Rachel (Salvage Works owner) for creating a beautiful Paul Bunyan plaza and tidied up downtown Kenton! Your hard work this last weekend is sincerely appreciated.

Wanna pitch in for a prettier Kenton? We’ve got a great group of volunteers that meets the last Sunday of every month at Posie’s, @ 9a in downtown Kenton for a neighborhood cleanup. And we need you! Bring gloves, a trash bag, and that good-ol’ Kenton can-do attitude. See you there!

Downtown Kenton Super Cleanup – This Sunday! 7/27

Beautiful downtown Kenton NEEDS your help! As many have noted, the Paul Bunyan Plaza as well as the surrounding area are in need of some weeding and cleanup. Well no time like the present! Please join us this coming Sunday, July 27th at 9am in front of Posies.

We will have two crews; one crew picking up trash and the other weeding along Denver.

What to bring:

* We are hoping to remove as much Foxtail Grass as possible. This grass has already caused two dogs a trip to the vet.

Concerts in the Park: Coming Up! (we need volunteers and donations!)

Come to the FREE concerts in the park at Kenton Park on Tuesday evenings in late July and early August. This is one of Kenton’s most popular summertime events and a great chance to catch up with old friends and make some new ones!

Been to Concerts before and love it? Or is this your first time? We need your help, either way! Each concert costs $11,000 (yep) to put on, and is mostly staffed by neighborhood volunteers.

We need 2 things to make sure this year’s Concerts are a big success.

First is volunteers. Want to have a say in brining bands to NoPo each summer? Interested in event planning? Or just passionate about bringing neighbors of all ages together for a great time together in the park? We need you! Leave a comment on this post that you want to volunteer, and the KNA will email you with more info on where and when to show up. Thanks!

Second is donations. Concerts always brings great, family-friendly artists to the neighborhood. But did you know each concert costs $11,000 per night?? The easiest way to show support for Concerts is with a $25, $10, $5, or whatever you can afford donation to Concerts — click here to make a donation: http://www.parklandia.org/give-concerts. You can specify Kenton or just support Concerts in general. Thanks!

We’ve got a great line-up this year, starting with The Supraphonics on July 29. They’re best known for bringing some serious funk grooves perfect for those dancing on those gorgeous North Portland summer evenings.

All shows are on Tuesday and start at 630p. (And yes, beer and wine is allowed. Just, you know, keep it classy. For the kids).

Check out the dates for this year’s concerts at Kenton Park :
Tuesday, July 29: The Supraphonics [finely-tuned funk]
Tuesday, Aug. 5: Norman Sylvester Band [Portland’s original boogie cat]
Tuesday, Aug. 12: The Fligh [edgy traditional Irish tunes]

You can also support other North Portland Concerts in the Park at Columbia Annex and McCoy Park. Visit https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/article/489141 for more info and the full schedule for concerts all over the city.

Kenton Sewer Repair – 2014 Information

Hi neighbors —

Coming soon to a street near you, sewer construction. Not the best news you’ve heard I’m sure. But repairing these almost 100-year old pipes now is WAY better then dealing with a blown-out … well, you get the idea.

Construction is scheduled to start sometime this month (July 2014). View a map of the construction by clicking here: https://historickenton.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Kenton-sewer-rehab-newsletter-2014-1.pdf

Sign-up for regular email updates by emailing Amy at and putting “Kenton” in the subject line.

NoPo paddlers have a splash!

Check out these great pics of Columbia Slough paddle this last weekend! More than 65 North Portland neighbors got their paddle on thanks to the Columbia Slough Watershed Council’s guided canoe trip in the Slough.

They spotted wildlife, got in some fun time on the water, and spent quality time meeting and mingling with neighbors from all over North Portland!
