The KNA Board is actively focusing on creating a stronger “livability” quotient for our Kenton neighborhood. This is the theme of the upcoming KNA General Meeting, February 10, 2010 at the Kenton Masonic Lodge. An Open House from 5:30 – 6:50 pm will showcase the KNA’s Committee activities and upcoming volunteer opportunities: sign-up for the neighborhood wide Clean-up, join new neighborhood “Livability Teams”, help plan Kenton’s Sunday Parkways events, show your support for a Kenton Community Garden, learn more about Public Safety , Land Use, and the upcoming Kenton Street Fair and Kenton People’s Parade in May to celebrate the completion of the Denver Streetscape, and come meet the new Kenton Library Administrator, David Miles. The General Meeting, 7 pm – 8:30 pm will provide a forum on “noise” in Kenton with presentations by the PIR, Friends of PIR and Livable North Portland. Our goal is to help educate our neighbors and provide resources for your personal engagement with issues that affect our every day living-livability in Kenton.
I’d like to know more about the Community Garden’s possible locations. I’d like to recommend Trenton Park as a possible site. It is a safe distance from heavy traffic and has a large treeless open space that doesn’t have any set obligations now. Plus it’s very close to Peninsula K-8.
