Denver Streetscape Update mid October 2009

Hello Kenton Neighbors:

What follows is called a two-week look-ahead schedule for construction.  The contractor meets every Thursday with the city’s construction and project managers and sets the schedule for the next two weeks. We plan to send regular email updates with the latest from these meetings.

New Sidewalks:  The contractor has excavated the sidewalk on the eastside of Denver between Watts and Kilpatrick. The next step will be to frame and then pour new curbs and sidewalks. The contractor expects curb and sidewalk work between Watts and Schofield will be completed by the end of next week.

Curb and sidewalk construction will begin on the east side of Denver between Schofield and Kilpatrick the week of October 19.

Business Access:  Business access ramps and temporary walkways have been placed in the construction areas. The contractor will continue placing these temporary ramps and walkways as the crews move to new block faces.

Utilities & Street Trees:  The contractor is currently putting in electrical conduit and starting utility relocations. Four power poles along the length of the Denver Streetscape Project will be moving, but all utility lines must be moved to the new pole(s) before the old pole(s) are removed.   The Maple trees were removed along the entire project area, and the contractor is placing safety barrels over the stumps until they are ground out.
