Mayfly Looking Again at Plaza

After a pause over the winter, Mayfly is once again looking to close N Fenwick outside their location at 8350 N Fenwick Ave to establish a plaza area. See the notice from Mayfly below

Hi Kenton Neighbors!

We are again working with the city and community in hopes to obtain a Healthy Business Permit for the purpose of closing down the one block section of Fenwick directly adjacent to our Taproom. We went through this process last fall and were able to successfully obtain the permit for the winter months, but we ultimately decided that it was not in the best interest of our community to create a gathering place while COVID-19 cases continued to rise. Now that these metrics are falling steadily, the vaccine is rolling out smoothly and the weather is improving, we feel that now is the time to provide this project for the community.

We have attached the formal traffic plans that would go into effect to safely and efficiently re-route traffic around our outdoor plaza. This plan is provided with arrows to show traffic flow and the signage that we will provide at each intersection.

As you well know, this past year has been a very difficult one for small businesses all across the country and many have sadly closed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Mayfly has been able to adapt to the many different situations that we have been thrown into this year, and we were lucky enough to be able to survive the winter. Now that we can crawl out of hibernation, we are revisiting this plan to provide a safe outdoor space for those in our community to gather. We envision having stalls for vendors, periodic food trucks and the occasional band with all events wrapping up at 8pm, and the plaza closing no later than 10pm. This plaza would run from April through October.

We understand that no matter what we do, this plaza project will affect the daily routines of all of our neighbors, and we view it as our job to make sure that we address all concerns and minimize that effect on us all.

We are asking that you please provide any feedback and concerns you may have so that we can make sure that our project works best for all of us in the neighborhood. If you could please email our team at info@mayflypdx.com with comments, we will address them as soon as possible.
