The main branch of the Multnomah County Library is just a MAX light rail train ride away. For tools, check out the North Portland Tool Library. You can borrow tools for free for one week. This valuable resource is only available to residents of North Portland, and NPTL is located conveniently in the basement of the Historic Kenton Firehouse. They have electric lawn mowers, edgers, shovels, post-holers, and everything else you could ever need to build a fence, tend a yard, or nail a roof. Kenton is a great place to ride a bike. The city has a great bike map showing bike lanes and trails (including a nice trail along the Columbia Slough). Portland City Commission: Multnomah County Commission Chair Diane Linn Metro is the regional planning body, charged with land use, transportation, and natural resource planning, including management of the Urban Growth Boundary. Metro manages area recycling and garbage disposal efforts, and area facilities such as the Oregon Convention Center and the Oregon Zoo. Metro Councilors are elected by district.
